Filming Your Winning Dressage Test: A Guide for OnCentreLine Competitors

Capturing your test correctly is key to ensuring our judges can accurately assess your performance. Please follow these essential guidelines to produce a video that truly showcases your ride

ree

Camera Positioning & Framing

  • The Perfect Angle: Your videographer should always stand directly behind the C letter.

  • Landscape View: Hold the camera in landscape orientation (horizontally) to capture the full width of the arena.

  • Dynamic Zoom: Begin by zooming in on the A-end as the horse and rider prepare to enter. Throughout the test, the camera person should smoothly adjust the zoom to keep the horse and rider clearly visible and centered in the frame at all times. If you move out of view, the judge cannot score those movements.

Arena Setup & Markers

  • Accurate Dimensions: Your test must be ridden within a clearly marked arena that measures the correct dimensions of a 60x20 meter dressage arena.

  • Visible Letters: All standard dressage letter markers (A, K, E, H, C, M, B, F) must be plainly visible and correctly positioned around the arena's perimeter.

Video & Audio Requirements

  • Continuous Recording: Your video must be a single, continuous take with no cuts or edits from start to finish. Begin recording at least 2 seconds before the rider enters at A, and ideally continue for 4 seconds after the final salute.

  • Sound On: Ensure your video has clear sound. While a test caller is permitted, any other coaching or training instructions heard during the test will result in disqualification.

  • Verbal Introduction: Either you or your videographer must verbally introduce the video at the beginning. This introduction needs to clearly state:

    • Your full name

    • The test you are riding

    • "OnCentreLine Dressage"

    • The month of the competition you are entering (e.g., "May Competition")

    • Failure to include this full verbal introduction or the competition month will result in a 2-mark deduction from your test score.

Final Reminders

  • Safety First: Please remember that you are recording your test at your own risk. OnCentreLine Dressage assumes no responsibility for any injury to horse or rider during your video submission. Always wear appropriate riding attire and protective gear.

  • Enjoy the Ride: Most importantly, breathe, SMILE, and HAVE FUN! We love seeing your passion for dressage.
